ABout the Narrows Playground
Why the Narrows?
The Narrows day use area is a popular place for people to gather to use the camp kitchen, fire ring, swim beach and picnic tables. We consulted with Parks Canada about an additional playground location in the Waskesiu townsite. It was determined that the Bears on the Beach and toddler playgrounds on the main beach provided adequate playground capacity in the townsite. Currently, there are no playground facilities along the south shore of the lake.
- Accessible activities: Canadian wildlife memory game, alphabet & number maze, steering wheel, crawl tube
- Toddlers ages 2-5: 6ft slide, leaf climber, double climber with planks, sand castle activity
- Kids ages 5-12: 10ft slide, firefighter's pole, molecule climber, spring mounted wobbly step, ring ladder, wheel & twirl overhead wheels, lateral wall climbing
- Nature themed: Animal & evergreen tree toppers, moose & evergreen silhouettes, colours fitting the natural surroundings
Project Details
Building a new playground to accommodate accessibility, activities for toddlers ages 2-5 and for kids ages 5-12 is conditional on receiving $30,000 in donations by Aug. 15, 2023.
